I love this hat pattern; the rib is very stretchy and slinky! It’s warm without being bulky and oh so comfy! There is an adult size to fit even the largest of men and women and also there is a child’s size to fit school age kids. (Adult size is shown in darkest color.)

You achieve different sizes, not by working different amounts of stitches and rounds, but rather by using the same pattern and changing yarn weight and needle sizes as detailed in the pattern. Adult hat = worsted weight and size US7/4.5mm 16”/40cm needle and set of four double pointed needles in the same size. Child hat = DK weight and size US5/3.75mm 16”/40cm circular needle and set of four double pointed needles in the same size. EASY!

The pompom is optional; I’ve been told boys and men are not fond of pompoms! But most of us females love them! So, whatever makes you/them happy. The faux fur pompoms are removable for washing the hat. There is photo tutorial for attaching the removable pompom. The top has nice, neat and easy decreases to lay flat against the head (NO CORNERS or POINTS!).
