Greta and the Fibers nace el 1 de diciembre del 2010 en la cocina de casa de Marga, la fantástica mujer que está detrás de todo.
Con formación autodidacta, basa su “modus operandi” en el error y acierto con los tintes, y eso también tiene su parte buena, porque como ella misma dice “haces descubrimientos maravillosos y errores de los que puedes aprender y seguir mejorando”. Y yo os puedo decir que el método de Marga es infalible, porque es una maga del color.
Trabaja con materiales de alta calidad, con hilos premium, y a partir de colores primarios y mezclas de lo más ingeniosas crea cientos de tonalidades que no vas a encontrar en ninguna lana que no sea Greta and the Fibers.
Marga lleva 9 años trabajando muy duro, pero en este momento puede decir orgullosa que es la marca de lanas premium teñidas a mano más importante de España. Un referente dentro del mundo de los hilos que a base de trabajo duro ha crecido y que tiene su propio taller al lado del Mediterráneo en l’Ametlla del Mar.
Los calcetines ONADES reciben su nombre por las olas que bañan la costa mediterránea, de donde viene la lana que los inspira. Un patrón sencillo y fácil de memorizar, que hace que luzca el hilo en cualquiera de sus combinaciones de color.

De Marga no os puedo decir más que es una amiga de esas que siempre está ahí apoyándome, no sólo con todo lo que necesite para mis diseños a nivel material, sino para todo lo que necesita mi espíritu para seguir creando. No me imagino la vida sin sus consejos de hermana mayor y sus llamadas de horas en las que nos damos aliento siempre tan necesario.

NOCIONES PREVIAS:
Es necesario saber montar puntos mediante el método de la hebra larga, tejer en magic loop, tejer punto del derecho y del revés, hacer aumentos y reducciones, hacer líneas provisionales de puntos, retomar puntos y el método kitchener o costura invisible para el remallado de la puntera y el talón.

CONSTRUCCIÓN:
Onades es un patrón de calcetines sencillo y resultón que se teje en circular con talón afterthought, comenzado por la caña y acabado por la puntera. El patrón está preparado para que puedas tejer los dos calcetines a la vez usando la técnica del magic loop y así evitar el temido síndrome del segundo calcetín.

Talla S (35-37), talla M (38-41), talla L (42-44).

AGUJAS:
Agujas circulares de 2.5 mm (US 1.5) con cable de 80 cm (32”), o las necesarias para obtener la muestra de tensión.

ACCESORIOS:
Marcador de inicio de vuelta, aguja lanera para rematar hebras.

MUESTRA:
32 puntos y 42 vueltas para una muestra de 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4”) en punto jersey, después de bloquear.

Greta and the Fibers is born December 1st, 2010, at Marga’s kitchen, the fantastic woman behind everything.

Self-taught, Marga’s modus operandi is based on trial and error with dyes, which also has its perks, as she puts it herself: “You make wonderful discoveries and errors from which you can learn and continue to improve”. And I can tell you that Marga’s method is infallible, as she’s a magician with colours.

She works with high quality materials, with premium yarns, and from primary colours and clever mixtures, she creates hundreds of hues that you wouldn’t be able to find in any other yarn that is not Greta and the Fibers.

Marga has been working really hard for the past 9 years, but she can proudly say nowadays that she is Spain’s most important premium hand-dyed yarn brand. A reference in the field, her brand has grown by hard work and she now has her own workshop by the Mediterranean Sea in l’Ametlla del Mar.

ONADES socks were named after the waves that bathe the Mediterranean coast, where the yarn that inspires us comes from. A simple and easy to memorise pattern, makes the yarn shine in any colour combination.

Little more could I say about Marga, except that she is one of those friends who’s always there supporting me, not only with all the material I need for my designs, but also for everything else my spirit needs to continue creating. I could not imagine life without her big-sister advice, nor without her hour-long calls where we give each other much needed encouragement.

SKILLS:
To knit this pair of socks you need to know how to perform a long tail cast-on, work in magic-loop, knit, purl, decrease by working stitches together, make provisional stitch rows, pick up stitches, and be familiar with the kitchener stitch to sew together toes and heels.

CONSTRUCTION:
Onades is a simple yet attractive sock pattern, knit in the round with an afterthought heel, started at the cuff and finished at the toe. The pattern is written so that you can knit both socks at a time using the magic loop technique, thus avoiding the dreaded second sock syndrome.

SIZES:
Size S (35-37), size M (38-41), size L (42-44).

NEEDLES:
2.5 mm (US 1.5) / 80 cm (32”) circular needles, or the required needle size to obtain gauge.

NOTIONS:
1 stitch marker, tapestry needle to weave in ends.
