Overlay mosaic crochet

Inspired by the tongue-twister “She Sells Seashells”, and finding shells on winter walks along various Norfolk beaches, “On the Seashore” was originally published as a 5-part CAL, worked using the overlay mosaic crochet technique, and finished off with a simple envelope border to hide the loose ends.

The individual files for the separate parts have now been removed, and have been replaced by a single document containing the full pattern.

If you are unfamiliar with mosaic crochet or the envelope border, don’t worry, they are much easier to do than they look.
Full written instructions are provided, alongside clearly marked, easy to read charts and lots of helpful photos, making this pattern suitable even for total beginners to mosaic crochet.

The pattern is written for a single size (approximately 92 x 132cm), and colour packs are available from Stylecraft stockists for this size.

The pattern also includes additional information to enable you to easily make a different size:

• for a different width, just add or subtract multiples of 48 from the starting chain;
• to adjust adjust the length of your project add or remove rows from parts 2 and 3, or repeat or skip some of the parts as required.

To simplify the abbreviations, and avoid the need for separate UK and US versions, the pattern is written in my ’Universal’ terms (I developed these terms for the Jacquard Temperature Blanket and have also used them in Flora’s Fauna and HoHoHo).
