Ommegang is my take on the assymetric cabled tunic that’s been floating around Pinterest.

I used graduated cables for a mix of delicate curves and textures on one side, keeping to soft twists and rounded edges. They are arranged by size and simplicity, trailing off to one side of the body. This complex panel contrasts nicely with the smooth stockinette of the other side of the tunic, which keeps the sweater from being too busy and gives you a little break while knitting around.

I knit mine with a shortish turtleneck that can be worn standing up or folded down. The transition from cables to turtleneck is accented by a little welt around the neckline, which is a fun technique to knit and makes a great detail under the ribbing. The pattern is written with instructions for a turtleneck like mine, a longer turtleneck, or a cowl. You can see the options in action in the test knits.

The sweater is knit seamlessly from the bottom up, so modifications for width and length are easily made. Shaping is worked along either side of the body and can be altered as desired. With this in mind, it works as a hip-length sweater, a tunic or even a dress - as one of my testers chose to go for! (She’s not exactly done yet…)

I chose Bare Naked Wool’s Stone Soup DK, which is a beautifully soft mix of 11 different fibers from the amazing Anne Hanson. It’s like nothing I’ve knit with before - lofty and sturdy at the same time, distinct with a beautifully rustic hand. And really, they had me at this color - Marble, the palest gray possible.

Sizing: 33.5(37,40,42,45.5)(47.5,49.5,52.5)”/85(94,101.5,106.75,115.5)(120.5,125.75,133.35)cm. Sizing based on finished circumference at bust. I suggest the size about 5”/12.75cm larger than your actual bust.
