Oloroso
$2 of every Oloroso purchase from now until June 1 will be donated to the ACLU, who is fighting to protect civil rights and voting rights in the US as the GOP tries to roll them back.
I love this texture, made up of charming little squares between garter stitch stripes. A light yarn, some crisp transitions, and contrasting cap sleeves highlight the pattern perfectly. Knit in a neutral shade such as this one, Oloroso is an easy-wearing tee with lots of options.
The beautiful Maven yarn I chose adds a light and rustic quality to the piece, which underlines to the summery vibe. The motif itself is bold and graphic - but at this gauge, it also feels delicate and subtle, and it’s one of those patterns you cannot put down once you start knitting it up.
When swatched this combo, I knew I’d hit the right mix, as my brain started making up summer outfits in my head…
Loose linen pants? Check.
Denim cutoffs? Yep.
My white cotton skirt? Absolutely!

The tee has an easy-wearing body, paired with a more fitted shoulder and cap sleeve. The V-neck is defined with a crisp edge all around the opening before it’s finished with a narrow ribbing. The sleeves are subtly shaped, and I used the garter stitch rows in the motif to ensure all the transitions are neat and intentional.
I like wearing it just a bit cropped, but it can easily be lengthened as needed. Look at the test knits to see how my knitters wear theirs, and what great colors they chose as well.
Oloroso is worked bottom up in the round, from hem to armhole, then split into pieces that are worked flat to shoulder and seamed together. Two small strips are sewn down around shoulders to back neck to finish off the neckline, before the collar and sleeve stitches are picked up and worked in the round to end.
As always, notes are included in the pattern on how and where you can modify your Oloroso for a personal fit.
Motif instructions are both charted and written out.

Yarn Notes
Ritual Dyes Maven is a 2-ply Rambouillet fiber in a fingering weight strand. It has a lovely bounce and a round hand that shows off the texture here beautifully. The resulting fabric is light and perfect for warm weather wear.
If substituting another fingering weight yarn, be sure your fiber is round enough to hold the pattern. Another fingering or a sport weight yarn with the above qualities might also work. Swatch in pattern and block to ensure gauge.
