This is a super simple video tutorial for making granny squares, aimed at knitters who are trying to branch out into crochet. I’m using the leftover yarn from knitting socks to make a small scrappy granny square afghan.

To make your own granny squares, all you need is yarn of your choice (it doesn’t have to be sock weight yarn) and a crochet hook of a matching size.

If you don’t want to make a scrappy granny square afghan, here are a couple other options of things to do with your granny squares:
-Make one giant granny square with worsted weight yarn. (Almost) Instant throw blanket!
-Make a handful of small granny squares in matching colors. They make great coasters!
-Make 24 or so tiny little granny squares with crochet cotton and a teensy little crochet hook. Sew them together for a quilt for a doll.
