Old-Fashioned Tea Cosy
This is a very warm tea cosy, worked in the pleated stitch pattern that was so popular in the early part of the twentieth century. The colours are stranded tightly across the back of the work to create a dense fabric.
The tea cosy is worked in two identical pieces and then sewn together to fit the pot. I designed the pattern to fit my old, silver-plated teapot which has straight sides and a nearly flat pot. Should you want to knit the cosy for a normal, round teapot, I suggest introducing the shaping rows earlier and spacing them out more.
All my ravelry patterns are free to download but, if you enjoy them, please consider making a donation to the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, a charity which funds research and supports the families of children with a liver disease. You can do this easily by going to my fundraising page www.justgiving.com/frankiesknittedstuff
