Ogee Hat and Scarf
Undulating ribbing flows over a field of garter stitch, with twisted stitches adding depth and texture as well as knitting interest. The fabric lies flat naturally, making a neat all-over scarf pattern and a cozy air-trapping hat. A cheery fringe and just the right amount of slouch make these the wearable winter accessories you’ll reach for every day.
The Ogee Hat is worked in the round from bottom up and features an optional pom-pom. The Ogee Scarf is worked flat and has the option of added fringe. Instructions for simple twisted stitches are given for both with cable needles and without.
This knitting pattern includes written directions, both charts and written instructions, and front and back images.

Substitution Notes
The original yarn is a DK weight superwash wool that works up at 5.5 sts per inch (2.5 cm) on 3.75 mm (US 5) needles. Choose a similar weight yarn in a fibre that’s comfortable to wear. Animal fibre blends will provide the best warmth. A smooth, solid-coloured yarn will show off the stitch pattern to best advantage.
Techniques
Knitting in the round, decreases, working simple cables from a chart or written instructions, cabling without cable needle (optional), pompom making.
