Ogee & Gosh Hats
Ogee & Gosh are two winter hats featuring colour work patterns inspired by motifs created by the resist dyeing technique known as Ikat that is used in textile weaving around the world. Version 1 (Ogee) is a slouchy fit beanie, has a short brim, and a pom-pom. Version 2 (Gosh) is also slouchy, has a folded up brim, and a features a unique speckled pom-pom! The hand-dyed colours of the Yarn Collective Bloomsbury DK used in this design create such a lovely varying depth of colour, it reminds me of the look of texiles straight out of the indigo vat. One skein of each colour way suggested is enough to make both hats!*
Please note: This PDF download includes instructions for both hats!!!!
Recommended Yarn
The Yarn Collective Bloomsbury DK (100% merino wool; 240 m/ 263 yds/ per 100g/ 3½ oz):
Version 1
Yarn A: 1 skein in Indigo or approx 100 m/ 110 yds of an equivalent DK weight yarn (including pom-pom)
Yarn B: 1 skein in Sand or approx 100 m/ 110 yds of an equivalent DK weight yarn
Version 2
Yarn A: 1 skein in Indigo or approx 150 m/ 165 yds of an equivalent DK weight yarn
Yarn B: 1 skein in Sand or approx 100 m/ 110 yds of an equivalent DK weight yarn (including pom-pom)
- 1 full skein each of yarn A and yarn B of the Bloomsbury DK is enough to make both pattern versions! But be warned: you will use almost the entire skein of yarn A and might need to unravel your gauge swatch.
