What better way to celebrate autumn than with a cosy, colourwork cowl bursting with autumnal colour? I have combined traditional Fair Isle motifs with cute acorns and oak leaves on a soft grey background and added braided detail and coloured corrugated rib for extra interest. Gloriously sticky Shetland wool is just perfect for stranded colourwork and the double thickness created by the floats at the back of the work makes for a super warm, cosy fabric.

Substituting Yarn
Pure Shetland wool really is the best yarn to use for Fair Isle colourwork but as there is no steeking involved in this pattern you could use smoother, less toothy yarn if you prefer. Swatching is key and yarn amounts may differ!
