Not Your Granny's Granny Square Scarf
This unique crocheted scarf turns a Granny Square on its head, and up-grades it even further by adding a bead crocheted edging. You can use either perl cotton or Beadsmith Silk (available at most local bead stores), combined with delica, treasure or Aiko beads (small cylinder beads). There are instructions contained within the pattern on how to do a simple bead crocheted edging.
This particular motif utilizes several crochet stitches, including single crochet, double crochet and front post double crochet. It is finished with silk (or perl cottons) and small cylinder beads. The finishing is optional. The motifs can stand on their own.
The gauge is almost immaterial, as is the hook size. You can use whatever hook size makes you comfortable for the motifs, as long as consistent. The edging is made using a C hook.
With the edging, this is not a difficult pattern, but it is time consuming.
Skill Level: Beginner + - Intermediate crocheter
The yarn in the sample is Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock, in colorway,
