These innovative low-cut socks expose a deeper, curved portion of the top of the foot and the ankle. This is why they look much more flattering on all sizes of ankles, since they do not visually cut the foot off horizontally, like most other hand-knit short socks do. Because of the lower “décolleté” at the top section, they also have the advantage of being completely hidden when worn in shoes - making them the perfect secret ally in winter, keeping toes and feet still toasty warm without compromising style or the lately ubiquitous “no-sock” trend.

In this pattern a toe up construction with a gusseted heel is used: This method provides a good fit and the ability to check the length of the sock quickly and easily during knitting. It also presents the advantage of using up different bits of yarn; just weigh them first and halve the amount to use in each sock!

Different photo-tutorials are included, which explain some new way to work symmetric decreases at the heel.

Sizing (Shoe / Foot sizes):
C1: Children’s 9-12 / 26-30 EU = 6½ in /16,5cm foot circumference. 7 in / 18 cm foot length.
C2: Children’s 1-4 / 31-34 EU = 7½ in /19cm foot circumference. 8¼ in / 21cm foot length.
A1: Women’s 5-7 / Men’s 4-6 / 35-38 EU = 8 in /20,5cm foot circumference. 9½ in / 24cm foot length.
A2: Women’s 8-10 / Men’s 7-9 / 38,5-43 EU = 9 in /23cm foot circumference. 10¼ in / 26cm foot length.
A3: Women’s 11-14 / Men’s 10-13 / 44-48 EU = 9¾ in /25cm foot circumference. 11 in / 28cm foot length.

Yarn: Any kind of sock-yarn at 230 yards or 210 m / 50gr:
Total amount of yarn: 1 skein or 26(33,35,40,43)gr
111(137,147,167,180) m or 121(150,161,183,197) yards.
Depending on if and how you intend to use 2 or more colours the amount for each colour might be different.
As a reference: Half of the total yarn amount was needed for both MC and CC in the pictured bicoloured models with MC heel.
