North Wind Pullover
The North Wind Pullover is a timeless, versatile sweater designed to keep you warm on crisp days. With its clean lines and classic shape, it’s a piece you’ll reach for again and again—whether worn casually with jeans or layered under a coat against the chill of the season. Several neck options—short, folded, funnel, or full turtleneck—let you tailor the pullover to your style and comfort, from light everyday wear to cozy winter layering. Named for the bracing winds of the north, it’s built to be both practical and enduring.
The pullover is worked seamlessly from the top down. It begins at the back neck, which is increased to the full width of the upper back before stitches are picked up for the shoulders and worked as the front. The yoke is shaped in the round, first by increasing stitches for the sleeves and later for both sleeves and body, giving the sweater a comfortable and well-balanced fit. At the underarms, sleeves and body are separated and finished individually in the round. The body and sleeve lengths are easy to adjust, and trying the pullover on as you go ensures the perfect fit.
You can knit the North Wind Pullover in a single strand of DK weight yarn for a classic, defined fabric, or hold fingering weight yarn together with silk mohair for a softer, haloed look with a touch of luxury.
