Three hats were knit with 1 100g ball of each color; on the 4th hat, I ran out of the main color doing the final trim around the bottom. Not a big deal - there was plenty of the contrasting colors left and either one looks fine for the trim, too. But, if you’re knitting either of the larger sizes and you’d like to have your bottom trim in the main color (off white, in this case), you MIGHT need a 2nd ball of the main color.

UPDATE: Yarn originally used was discontinued; however, you can use any bulky / super bulky yarn that gives you the same gauge. Often, two strands of worsted weight yarn will give you a comparable gauge.

Needle note from the pattern:
The hat can be knit using double-pointed needles, one long (32” / 80cm or longer) circular needle with the “magic loop” technique, or two circular needles of most any length. The sample hat was knit entirely on #11US/8mm needles. However, if you find your colorwork gauge is noticeably tighter than your solid stockinette gauge, use needles one size larger for your colorwork sections. If you find that your attached I-cord trim around the bottom is loose, use needles one size smaller for that trim.
