In this sweet vintage pattern the body of the toy is knitted and the clothes knitted afterwards and put on.
To keep the toy baby safe and slightly more modern, embroider eyes instead of sticking them on as was done in the reference picture.
The 1987 Your Family issue attributes this to Mary Goddard.
Measurements
50cm from top to toe.
You will need
Elle Family Knit DK (50g balls)
Family Knit DK: 1 ball each Red (009) A, Denim (050) B, Marron Brown (171) C,
Citron Yellow (020) E and 2 balls Gravel (075) F.
One medium sized bell.
Polyester stuffing.
1m x 1cm wide blue ribbon and 2 buttons.
Small pieces of white and black felt.
Shirring elastic.
Brown yarn for embroidery.
One pair 4mm knitting Ns.
