“Nid d’abeilles” is the French for the structural element of “Honeycomb”, and means literally “nest of bumblebees”: a textured and comfortable garment to snuggle into during al fresco diners.

Needles and Notions

• 3.25 mm (US 4) needles ― circular or straight
• 3.75 mm (US ) circular needles (or size required to achieve gauge) ― at least 150 cm [60 in] 2 needed (use 1 as a holder)
• 7 (7, 7, 8, 8, 8, 9) toggles, size 36 mm [1⅜ in]
• cable needle
• 12 stitch markers
• tapestry needle
• grosgrain ribbon: 2.25 cm [⅞ in], approximately 250 cm [100 in]
• sewing needle, thread and pins

Gauge

• 30 sts and 32 rows / 10 cm [4 in], measured over honeycomb pattern with larger needles after blocking.
• 21 sts and 32 rows / 10cm (4 in) over double moss stitch with larger needles, after blocking.
• 40 sts and 37 rows / 10 cm 4 in, measured over honeycomb pattern with smaller needles after blocking.

Notes
This pattern is knit flat in one large piece, starting from the collar. Because there are no seams, there’s no fussy sewing up. Strength and structure are added in the form of a facing ribbon. The stitch patterns can be worked from the charts or the written directions, whichever you prefer.
