TECHNIQUES USED IN THIS PATTERN
Links to videos for selected techniques are included. I look for videos as close as possible to the instructions I have written. Sometimes they may be slightly different but still very helpful.
- Cast on
- k2, p2 ribbing
- Choice to follow text or charted pattern
- Decrease—ssk and k2tog
- Increase—knit into back and front of same stitch
- Cable cast-on for a one row buttonhole
- Selvage edge
- Three needle bind off for shoulders
- Pick-up and knit stitches for picked-up sleeve or neckband
- Weave stitches to rows to attach separate sleeves
- Weave rows to rows for side and underarm seams
Regardless of their age babies and children’s actual body measurements vary. It is helpful to use the FINISHED GARMENT MEASUREMENTS, in the photo of chart which refers to this specific garment only. It can help you choose the size you prefer.
YARN USED
Cascade Yarns – Anchor Bay
- 50% cotton 50% Superwash Merino Wool
- 262 yards-(240 meters)—2.5 ounce-(100 grams)
- 3(4—5) skeins
For this cardigan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important. It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.
