Neptune's Daughter Wrap
About Neptune’s Daughter:
Hi! Thanks so much for your interest in this pattern! It’s a fun parallelogram wrap, knit on the bias. It’s a chance to play with color - so I’ve included a diagram of the wrap that you can color before you start knitting!
One more note - I used a wrist ruler as a shawl cuff! Get creative! This wrap is a great opportunity to put a little bit of bling on your shawl. Want a nutty suggestion?? There are some napkin rings/holders that could make GREAT innovative looking shawl cuffs… Just sayin’!
Pattern Inspiration
I am the daughter of a U.S. Navy captain, and although we moved quite a bit when I was growing up, we lived primarily near the ocean. I loved sitting on the beach, listening to the gulls, watching the waves roll in and slink back out again, and seeing people have fun. I loved that mix of joy and relaxation you feel after a day in the sun. For two summers I lifeguarded at Sandbridge, the most incredible stretch of beach in Virginia. Visitors to the beach were greeted by a little market that doubled as the gathering place for residents and tourists alike. A two-lane, sand-dusted road stretched miles toward the even more rural end of the beach where wild ponies roamed Back Bay, an area that is now a National Wildlife Refuge. Occasionally I would get to see the ponies wandering near our lifeguard meeting house as I headed home after work. I loved the time I spent at Sandbridge, and I have carried those memories with me in the years since.
This wrap is an opportunity to create a piece as calming as an ocean breeze, or as exciting as a perfectly curled wave. In my sample I used a one-of-a-kind skein and then built my palette from there. You could do the same!
I’d love to see your interpretation of this design! Share your photos on Ravelry, email them to us at info@cheerstoewe.com, or share them on Facebook and Instagram with #cheerstoewe. I can’t wait to see what you make!
