Nephele
Nephele (pronounced Nef-ah-lee) is a long, crescent shaped shawl, A bold lace border drips with beads. Block the finished item firmly to reveal the dramatic lace work.
This pattern can be worked in 4ply (fingering) or 2ply (lace), instructions and material lists are given for both.
The Lace pattern is provided both as a chart and as written directions - use whichever you prefer.
Instructions also include a complete video walk-through of the lace patterning to fully explain techniques.
Materials - 4ply (Sock) Version
- 1 skeins of Vintage Purls Sock yarn (100g/384m).
- 4.00mm 80cm long circular needle.
- 210 size #06 seed beads.
- A beadle, fine crochet hook or beading needle and thread to apply your beads.
- A small amount of scrap yarn (less than 1 metre).
Materials - 2ply (Lace) Version
- 0.5 skein of Vintage Purls Lace yarn (100g/909m).
- 3.25mm 80cm long circular needle.
- 224 size #08 seed beads and 56 mini fringe beads (4x3.4mm). OR 280 #08 or #06 seed beads.
- A beadle, fine crochet hook or beading needle and thread to apply your beads.
- A small amount of scrap yarn (less than 1 metre).
Gauge - 4ply (Sock) Version
With 4.00 mm needles in stocking stitch: 20sts and 36 rows in 10cm (4”).
Gauge - 2ply (Lace) Version
With 3.25mm needles in stocking stitch: 28sts and 42 rows in 10cm (4”).
