I’m lucky. While I’m not great friends with any of my neighbors, I get along well with all of them, often stopping mid-walk or pausing my yardwork to chat. Having friendly neighbors who are willing to share their hens’ extra eggs or check in on my cats when I’m away makes me love my place in life that much more.

Similarly, the colors in the Neighborly Scarf need to get along well with their neighbors, as each interacts with the color on either side. Through stripes and a few carefully-placed slipped stitches, the colors work together to build a harmonious neighborhood. The scarf can easily be made wider or longer by adding repeats.
For a wider scarf: Cast on an additional 20 stitches for each additional repeat desired. Each additional repeat will
add approximately 2”/5 cm to the width of the piece, and will require an extra 45 yards/42 meters of each color.

For a longer scarf: Continue rotating through the colors as noted in the pattern until desired length is reached.
Each additional repeat of mosaic and garter section will add approximately 4”/10 cm to the length of the piece,
and will require an extra 35 yards/32 meters MC and 15 yards/14 meters CC.
