This mitten design was one Alexis Manzanares’s grandmother’s used. Grandmother Sterzick knit mittens for her entire family and also for charity. The author does not remember having a pair of store bought mittens until she was in college!

These mittens have a distinct left and right. The author refers to the yarn she used to knit the pair pictured in the original article as “blanket wool.” The mittens from the article are not pictured here.
