Nanci Produce Bag
Ever notice how many small plastic bags you need to use in the produce section of the supermarket? If you buy produce like me, it’s a lot. A crocheted bag makes perfect environmental sense, but who wants to add weight to their produce items? No one! This bag is created with size 10 crochet thread and makes a pretty and sturdy bag that weighs less than one ounce (the rainbow bag weighed in at just 0.6oz)!
A little background on how I came up with the bag: a friend emailed me a picture of a weightless produce bag that was knit. She asked if I could recreate something similar using crochet. That’s how the Nanci Produce Bag was born! The Nanci Produce Bag is a NEARLY weightless produce bag. It stretches to fit your produce and has an attached drawstring.
It differs from other crocheted produce bags in that it is created to be nearly weightless when made with size 10 crochet thread. That means it is not adding $ to your bill at the supermarket! However, you can make this produce bag with ANY weight thread or yarn.
