amirisu Mystery KAL 2022: Memories of Moonlight

amirisu is holding our second annual Mystery KAL in September!
This pattern is available directly from amirisu only. Visit one of our Japan-based online shops to purchase the pattern and join the MKAL.

In a Mystery Knit Along (known a Mystery KAL or MKAL), participants knit a shawl section by section without knowing what the finished design will be. A new section of the pattern (a “clue”) is revealed each week. Completing each clue brings participants one step closer to finishing the shawl and revealing the complete design.

There are many ways a Mystery KAL can be held and different themes they can have. For this year’s MKAL, Tokuko designed a shawl based on an original concept: Memories of Moonlight. Each clue features a scene that serves as the inspiration for the motifs in that clue.

Join us for this year’s MKAL to enjoy knitting along to the story!

Pattern Distribution
Each pattern installment (clue) will be uploaded to the MKAL Dropbox folder. Participants will visit the folder and download each installment of the pattern (PDF file) directly. Starting from Friday, September 16, every week at 15:00 a new clue will be added to the Dropbox folder.

• Please note that the pattern will be provided electronically as a PDF. We will not send out printed patterns.

Schedule
The first clue will be provided on Sept. 16 (Fri.) at 15:00 (JST).
Clues will be provided over 5 weeks: Sept. 16, Sept. 23, Sept. 30, Oct. 7, Oct. 14
Participants will receive an email notifying them each time a new clue is available.

About the Pattern
Participants may choose to download the clues in English or Japanese. Video tutorials will be provided for key techniques.

Yarn
Four colors of fingering weight yarn, approximate amounts are as follows:
Color 1: 340 yds/ 310m
Color 2: 285 yds/ 260m
Color 3: 208 yds/ 190m
Color 4: 307 yds/ 280m

Needles
A US4 (3.5mm) 80 cm (or longer) circular needle
Or needle required to obtain gauge

Notions
Tapestry needle, cable needles

Online Events for Participants

・Q&A Corner: We’ll pick up some of the most common questions from participants to create an FAQ sheet to share our answers.

Sharing KAL Progress on Instagram
We welcome participants to use Instagram to communicate with each other and share their progress!
To maintain the mystery and avoid spoilers for other participants, we ask that you use the MKAL image provided in the Dropbox folder as a cover image for progress photos. To do this, just upload the official MKAL image as the first photo in your post.

amirisu Mystery KAL 2022: 夜空にはいつも月があった

今年もamirisu ミステリーショールKalを開催します！
ミステリーKalとは、毎週少しずつパターンが発表され、最後まで編むとショールが完成するというもの。糸選びから始まって、編んでいる皆さんでワイワイお祭りのように楽しもうという企画です。どんなショールになるのか最後までわからない、というところがミステリーなんですよ。
ニット界ではさまざまな形のミステリーKalがありますが、amirisuは今年は「夜空にはいつも月があった」という物語仕掛けでショールを作りました。毎回、お話しを読みながら、そのイメージでショールの模様が展開していきます。
ゴールを目指して一緒に楽しく編みましょう！ トクコ

パターンの配布方法
「amirisu Mystery KAL 2022」用のDropboxフォルダを作りますので、ご自分でそのフォルダに入っているパターンをダウンロードしてください。
9月16日から毎週金曜日の午後15時にDropboxに新しいパターンが入ります。
※印刷版のパターンではありません。都度ご自分でPDFデータをダウンロードしていただく形になります。

配布スケジュール
9月16日(金) 午後15時に1回目のパターン配布となります。
9月23日, 9月30日, 10月7日, 10月14日の全5回の配布です。
※毎回パターンを配布しましたらメールでお知らせいたします。

パターンについて
文章パターンです。日本語も英語もご用意します。
ミステリーでも安心して編んでいただけるように、キーとなる編み方についての動画をたくさんご用意します！

使用する糸について
Fingering の糸を最低4色使用します。
Color 1: 340 yds/ 310m
Color 2: 285 yds/ 260m
Color 3: 208 yds/ 190m
Color 4: 307 yds/ 280m

使用する針
US4 (3.5mm) の80 cm 以上の輪針
または ゲージが取れる太さの針
