Multnomah Coat
The Columbia Gorge of Oregon contains the magnificent Multnomah Falls. The vertical lines of the falls are contrasted by the horizontal counterpoint of the bridge that spans the river. These contrasting lines are echoed in the plaid motif of this coat.
I love to wear sweater coats. In fact, after finishing the Columbia Suit, I immediately set out to use the same Toots Le Blanc yarn for the drop-shoulder coat you see here. I acquired every color that I could, and then worked for months on designing motifs. I swatched repeatedly to create a quick and enjoyable knit with flattering lines.
The edging is from Anna Zilboorg’s “Tina’s Sweater” pattern published by Blue Moon Fiber Arts. It’s a delightful change from ribbing and adds weight and swing to the coat.
