Mrs. Warford is reminiscent of an era gone by. The low, scooped neckline, under bust gathers, fitted sleeves; small buttons and embroidered waistband speak of romanticism and simple elegance. It is a longer, mid-thigh length cardigan with a diagonal pin stripe stitch pattern mimicking the popular pin striping and bias cuts of garments from another time.
In order to modernize and make this a wearable garment for today, the shaping from the waist down is done with increases at the sides to create a more fluid, fitted look. It features sizing that is easily adjusted to fit each wearer with precision and comfort. It is begun with a duplicate stitched waistband, then knit seamlessly from the waistband up through the bodice. The sleeves are worked by picking up stitches around each armhole, using short rows to shape the sleeve cap, the worked in the round to the cuff. The lower body is worked from the waistband down. It is sure to please knitters of all levels.
