Mrs Grimmet's Weskit
Mrs. Grimmet is my local style guru. I borrowed some ideas from her playbook, and the result is this cowl-neck, cabled, sideways-knit pullover. It was a fun knit, and turned out so wearable!

Pattern info
The pullover is knitted from side to side in one piece beginning with a provisional cast-on and ending with a graft. I used some scrap yarn to create a path for my graft to follow … a kind of a grafting cheat that works great (a photo tutorial is linked).
Cowl and ribbing at hem are picked up and knitted. Sleeve caps are shaped with short rows.
Sweater chest circumference:
29 (33, 36, 39, 42)(46, 49, 52, 55)“ Recommended ease: 0 to 4”. Shown in size 36 with 2” ease on model and 0 ease on dressform.
Yarn: Sunday Knits 5 ply (worsted weight) in Nirvana (merino cashmere), Eden (merino), Brigadoon (merino tweed) or Angelic (merino angora); 125 m / 137 yd per 50 g / 1-3⁄4 oz skein:
5 (6, 6, 7, 8)(8, 9, 10, 10) skeins. Shown in Brigadoon stone.
Substitute any worsted weight yarn that works nicely to gauge: 630 (740, 820, 920, 990) (1080, 1180, 1270, 1360) yds.
Needles: Straight or circular needles (circs) size 7 US (4.5 mm) for weskit. Additionally circs: sizes 5 (3.75 mm) & 6 (4 mm) for ribbing at hem and sleeves, and size 8 (5 mm) for cowl.
Gauge: 20 sts and 27 rows = 4” in St st.
Cable pattern measures 61⁄2” over 48 rows and 101⁄2” over 55 sts using size 7 needles.
Note: For this garment, row gauge is more important than stitch gauge.
Notions: Cable needle, tapestry needle, markers.
Techniques used: Cables, provisional cast-on, pick up and knit, grafting following a contrast-color path (with tutorial).
Pattern includes: Written instructions, cable instructions in both written and charted format, schematic, glossary.
