Mr Colour Bag is worked flat in linen stitched rectangles. One of the rectangles is worked in marled intarsia creating a gingham pattern. The rectangles are crocheted together before the whole bag is felted in the washer. The pattern contains videos for most steps and instructions for a sewn shoulder strap and lining. It also ends with multiple guides and ideas on how to use the techniques for other projects or how you can make the bag your own.

GAUGE
13 st x 24 r = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” in linen stitch worked flat with yarn held double on 8 mm needles before felting.
Approx. 14 st x 29 r after felting.

NEEDLES
7 mm (US 10.5), 80 cm/32” long (for cast on) + 8 mm (US 11), 80 cm/32” long circular or straight needles.

HOOK
8 mm (US L-11) for cast on + 5 mm (US H-8) for assembly.

YARN ALTERNATIVES
Rauma Vams, Vikinggarn Hobbygarn, Drops Alaska, or other bulky, non-super wash yarn. Another alternative is to use 2-ply sport weight wool yarn held double to make up one strand of bulky yarn. Note that other yarns may felt differently in the washer.

CONSTRUCTION
The bag is made in three pieces, rectangles, that are assembled using slip stitch crochet. The biggest rectangle, that make up the front, bottom, back and lid of the bag, is worked in gingham using marled intarsia. Marled intarsia means you work with yarn held double throughout the work and change colour of one strand using intarsia to create the pattern. All parts are also worked in linen stitch. After assembling the three pieces the bag is felted in the washer and if you want you can make a sewn lining with a pocket.
