Mouth of Harbour
As the water flows past the Awhitu peninsula, it exits the Manukau Harbour, and meets the Tasman Sea.
This shawl emulates the waters flowing out through the mouth of the harbor.
CONSTRUCTION
Mouth of Harbour is a shallow crescent shawl, constructed from the top centre edge down. The shawl is divided into 3 sections; the outer 2 in unassuming garter stitch, while the middle is gently flowing waves growing wider as the shawl grows deeper.
The entire pattern is both written and charted.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- blocking a shawl
- picking up stitches
- provisional cast-on (optional)
- working simple lace
If you are not familiar with these techniques you may need to reference a knitting guide book, or view videos on the internet.
