Mouse-nip and Pup-Squeak Pet Toys
Have you hugged a pet today???
These adorable cuties made with Caron SS are VERY difficult to rip and tear, making it a fantastic yarn for use in pet toys and for de-stashing leftovers!
Mouse-nip and Pup-squeak are the perfect size for quick toys made from almost no yarn. They are great for donating to your local pet rescue, or for quick items on your sale table. KIDS LOVE THEM TOO!
These cuties are crafted using a one-piece design. Special instructions are included to keep these babies from coming apart as well! The specific yarn and hook size create a very tightly woven fabric. The only sewing is whatever detail you choose to add
(including the “spot(s)” on Pup-squeak).
Variations:
Use a 6mm hook and blanket yarn for a bigger mouse or puppy kid’s toy (not recommended for dogs).
Use cotton yarn in pretty colors and add stuffing and a rattle box for babies!
Stuff Pup-Squeak with catnip for the kittehs!
Use thread and a 1.5mm hook for a tiny keychain!
Materials Used:
Worsted Weight Yarn: Caron Simply Soft or similar acrylic with sheen (very hard to break) test first.
2 colors for Pup-squeak, 1 for Mouse-nip
Catnip (I purchased in a pouch at Family Dollar)
1” squeakers (available on amazon in 50 pack)
Darning needle
Polyfil
Hook- Size used 2.25mm. (IMPORTANT! Your hook must be small to avoid tearing apart/catnip leakage; if teeth can’t get in, they can’t rip it as easily)
Size: Fits in the palm of your hand
