This triangular shawl is knit from the top down, flat. It starts with garter stitch, only interrupted with some mosaic knitting every few rows to create stripes and give you a taste of what’s to come.

Approximately 700 metres/ 765 yards of fingering yarn for the main colour (MC), shown here in Midknit Craving Lush, colour Velvet Plum

Approximately 245 metres/ 268 yards of fingering yarn for the contrasting colour (CC), shown here in Hedgehog Fibres Sock, colour Shiver

Smaller needle: 3.5 mm/US 4 circular needle, at least 60 cm/24 inches long
Larger needle: 3.75 mm/US 5 circular needle, st least 80 cm/32 inches long

GAUGE

24 sts and 40 rows = 10 cm / 4 inches in garter st with the smaller needle and in mosaic knitting with larger needle (after blocking). Although the gauge is not crucial, it may affect the size of your shawl.
