Motorcoach
You can purchase Motorcoach for a discounted price of $5 USD until Monday, October 27th using code BUSRIDER at checkout.
Motorcoach is a gaugeless cowl pattern that is knitted flat, on the bias, from corner to edge in three sizes. After knitting, the cowl is seamed. The resulting cowl is easy to style and will end up draping similar to an asymmetric shawl.
As I was developing this pattern, I kept thinking of more and more variations. The pattern includes 4 sets of instructions to vary the base pattern and within each of these sets includes a total of 8 unique possible styles to make.
Motorcoach is the culmination of my quest for the ultimate stashbuster. This pattern needed to meet five criteria:
1) Minimal preparation before casting on.
2) Displays yarns and color contrasts that are burning a hole in my yarn stash.
3) Easy to get creative with.
4) Fun to knit.
5) Makes a gorgeous and unique hand knit object.
Additionally, this pattern could not be easier to make. Garter is the most basic stitch pattern and is often times the first stitch pattern a beginner will learn. Motorcoach really shows the versatility of this basic stich and helps guide you to showcasing your yarns in the best way possible.
Perfectly suited for an advanced beginner, but offering enough variations to be engaging to even the most seasoned knitter, this pattern is one of those patterns you will return to time and time again.

SUGGESTED YARN
All of the yarn used for my seven samples came from my personal yarn stash. I encourage you to use this pattern as an opportunity to get creative with your stash!
GAUGE
Motorcoach is “gaugeless.” You can work the pattern with any yarn weight.
NEEDLES
Any. If you are stumped on which size to use, use a size recommended on your yarn label.
I recommend using a 32” (81 cm) circular knitting needle or bigger to accommodate the maximum amount of stitches needed.
YARDAGE
The downside to this pattern being “gaugeless” is that it’s very challenging to provide accurate yardage estimates. The bigger the needles you use (for your yarn weight) the less yardage you will use up because it will require less rows to achieve the same length on a smaller needle. At the same time, this will impact the overall drape of the finished object.
