We offer this mystery knit along as a way of honoring our own mothers and grandmothers and to give you an opportunity to share some companionship as you knit for your own mother, grandmother or other significant nurturing lady in your life. So, let’s get together, celebrate those lovely ladies, and share some great friendship in the process.

Join us in the Fleckenstein and Friends group to some great friendship, sharing, and pattern support during this year’s awesome Mother’s Day MKAL.

This year’s MKAL gives you two options to choose from: A) a over-sized rectangular shawl measuring approximately 24” x 80” before blocking, or B) a large, cozy triangle shawl. Both feature a lovely lace leaf motif in an easy and pleasant to knit stitch pattern alternating with an equally easy to knit diagonal open lace stitch pattern. With both pieces you can choose to knit the entire piece in one color or two.

We have created some playful and lovely new colorways at Lucky Violet Color Co. especially for this MKAL. Some of these colorways will only be sold through Mother’s Day 2017; you will be able to tell which are limited time releases on the yarn photos page because they will be marked with a double ** on either side of the color name.

We (Lucky Violet Color Co.) dye and hand paint our yarn on a Dye to Order basis (though we occasionally have a very limited supply of Ready to Ship hanks available). All orders placed by end of day April 16, 2017 will ship by April 25th. (U.S. shipping addressees will receive their yarn in time for the start of the MKAL.)

The MKAL will begin on Sunday, April 30, 2017 with the release of the first “clue”. The schedule of clues is as follows:

840 to 900 yards fingering weight yarn in one or two colors
Size U.S. 6 circular knitting needles on a 32” cable for the oblong wrap, or on a 44” cable for the triangle shawl
