Pattern Description

Sarah, a junior in high school, was under a great deal of stress with college entrance exams, extracurricular activities, and all that homework. Sarah and her mom, Petra, have a very close relationship and Sarah often confides in her mom. In tears one evening, Sarah told her mom that she was having trouble relaxing. Petra knew just the thing--she taught Sarah how to knit. After knitting a scarf, Sarah was ready for a simple sweater. So she came to us and found a fun multicolor yarn that was quick to knit but not too bulky, which would allow her to wear the sweater inside and show off her craftiness in school. The V-neck she chose to knit has simple decreases for the neck, and there’s no need to pick up stitches for finishing. Although she was strapped for time, whenever Sarah started to feel stressed she would put down her homework and knit for fifteen minutes. She loved the rhythmic clicking of the needles, and it really did relax her so she could concentrate better on her studies. See? Mothers are always right.
