Moss Stitch and Cable Pullover
Pattern description from Knitting in America: “Although Kristin often thinks about what she and her husband, mark, like to wear when she is designing sweaters, the couple actually own very few of Kristin’s creations. So, for this project, I asked her to design sweaters specifically for her and Mark that the two of them would keep for themselves. She found a diamond cable in a Japanses stitch book, started playing around with it, then added the X in the center and the seed stitch (rather than the more typical reverse stockinette) around the sides. To show the different textural possibilities, she chose Classic Elite’s two-ply Kelso Tweed (which is 100 percent wool) in Wensleydale Olive for Mark’s pullover and Mackenzie Silk Wool (a 70 percent wool and 30 percent silk nubby, textured, single-ply tweed) in St. Croix for her cardigan. Later, to show yet another possibility, she had a second pullover knit in Nature’s Palette Cotton (the color made with 50 percent Classic Elite Buffalo Fox Fibre and 50 percent natural organic cotton). The cotton sweater is modeled on page 75 by Sally Fox. The pattern for these unisex sweaters appears on page 183.”
