Moroccan Wedding Blanket
The Moroccan wedding blanket, also known as a handira, is a meaningful part of Berber culture. Handwoven by the bride’s female relatives, the blanket is meticulously and mindfully imbued with wishes of fertility and good luck. This knit version has been inspired by some of the design details found in the classic handira.
This pattern is part of the “Purposeful Patterns” initiative - a series of designs benefiting a variety of causes. $1 from the sale of each Moroccan Wedding Blanket pattern will be donated to the High Atlas Foundation, dedicated to catalyzing economic growth and endorsing grassroots development in disadvantaged communities throughout Morocco through projects identified and managed by local communities, in partnership with the public, private and civil sectors.
