Moonphase Scarf
This elegant and striking scarf combines double-knitted brioche with double-knitting, incorporating nine pictorial panels: each one depicts a different phase of the moon, from fully dark, to full.
A syncopated double-knitted brioche faux fringe switches over the dominance of the two colours, giving the illusion of a colour change, when in fact, there is none.
Deceptive in its simplicity, this is a really easy pattern to knit, and one that I’m sure you will want to knit more than once.
I chose the two darkest colourways from my range of yarn (the Sockmatician Edition range), Bruton (navy blue), and DeLarverie (Dark Grey), as I wanted my scarf to have a mystical, ethereal, night-time atmosphere, but you could just as easily choose two highly contrasting colours, or two much brighter ones, and you would still achieve a visually imposing, eye-catching effect.
