Bring a burst of color and cozy charm to your home with the Moonlit Petals Blanket, a crochet flower throw made from hexagon motifs using simple stitches. Each motif showcases a 3D blossom framed by classic granny stitches. Together the motifs form a vibrant, garden-inspired throw or kids blanket with rich crochet texture that feels just as magical as it looks.
With step-by-step instructions and video tutorials, you’ll have all the guidance you need to create a one-of-a-kind blanket for gifting, decorating, or cozying up at home. And because the motifs work up quickly in bulky yarn, you’ll have a finished blanket in no time.
How This Blanket Is Made
This charming blanket is made with hexagon motifs. Each motif begins with a large center ring, into which you’ll create petals using a mix of single crochet, chains, and treble crochet stitches. Then, switching to a contrasting background color, you’ll work chains and slip stitches behind each petal, forming the base for a classic granny stitch hexagon. Motifs are joined in the final round using a join-as-you-go (JAYGO) technique.
Pattern is written in US crochet terms.

Customization
Pattern includes instructions for adjusting the blanket’s length and width, the total yarn required for each color, and a detailed breakdown of the yarn needed for a single motif.
Suggested Yarn Substitutes
Sample was made with bulky-weight acrylic, but feel free to substitute the bulky-weight yarn of your choice. Wool and cotton would also be good options. Lighter or heavier weight yarns may also be used. A different weight yarn may require a different size hook, as well as more or less yarn than noted. Working with a thinner or thicker yarn may result in different gauge measurements, which will affect the Finished Measurements.

Gauge
Though exact gauge is not essential, for best appearance it should be close.
I used a K/10.5/6.50mm crochet hook. Select the hook size that gives the best appearance for your choice of yarn and your tension.
A significantly different gauge may require more or less yarn than listed.
