This cabled and warm winter hat is named MONUMENT hat as it reminds me of domes on buildings. Unlike these architectural masterpieces this hat is a quick and easy project and perfect to minimize your stash.

It is made from less than 25 g of Silk Mohair which is held together with 2 strands of unspun yarn - also called roving. The resulting fabric is very light, super squishy and will keep you very warm. If you have not worked with unspun yarn before, this might be the perfect project to give it a first try.

This pattern went through tech editing and test knitting before release.

SIZES
1 (2, 3, 4, 5) to fit a head circumference of
51 (54, 57, 60, 63) cm / 20 (21.25, 22.5, 23.5, 25)“
with about 4-5cm / 1.5-2” negative ease

YARN
This pattern is worked holding 3 strands of yarn at all times: 1 strand of mohair and 2 strands of unspun yarn.

You will need:
1 ball of Mohair By Canard Brushed Lace (25g, 210m / 229yds, 72% Kid Mohair, 28% Mulberry Silk) in color 3101
and
1 plate of Raincloud & Sage Unspun 2104 (100g, 450m / 492yds, 60% German Breeds: Merino, Schwarzkopf, Jurabraun and 40% Gotland) in color Nimbus

As substitute yarn you can use any typical silk mohair (e.g. Filcolana Tilia) and any unspun yarn (e.g. Plötulopi or Nutiden).

GAUGE
15 sts and 23 rounds = 10cm / 4” in cable pattern
measured after blocking without stretching the fabric; the purl stitches of the rib are included in the given amount of stitches, even if they are not visible when the fabric is laying down on a flat surface
and
11 sts and 28 rounds = 10cm / 4” in cable pattern
measured after blocking while stretching the fabric so that the purl stitches are as visible as the knit stitches

NEEDLES
6mm (or size to obtain gauge with)

TOOLS
A tapestry needle for weaving in the ends.
A marker for the beginning of the round.
