Monsoon Season
Monsoon Season Cowl
The Monsoon Season Cowl was inspired by the wonderful yarn purchased from Ishrat of Fruitful Fusion. The cowl uses a skein of fingering yarn and a skein of Suri alpaca. The two different bases work perfectly together in the same variegated colour way to produce a beautifully subtle drapey fabric. The pattern combines corrugated rib and a modified peacock lace. It is initially worked flat and then in the round to produce a seamless item.
Yarn Requirements: 100g (400m) fingering weight yarn (MC) and 50g (300m) Suri Alpaca (CC)
Sample was knit using yarn from Fruitful Fusion; Merino Bamboo Silk (68g) and Suri Alpaca (41g) in colour way Monsoon
Needles: US 4/3.50 mm 22-24” circular needle
Notions: 4 stitch markers, spare needle for 3-needle bind off, tapestry needle
Gauge: 29 sts x 32 rows for 4”/10 cm over corrugated rib blocked; while gauge is not so important for this pattern getting a different gauge could mean that you use more yarn or don’t get the same drape in your finished item
Measurements: front depth: 50.5 cm/20”, length along cast off edge when laid flat 50.5 cm/20”
