Monkey House Socks
These Socks were devised as part of the annual Knitting & Crochet Blog Week.
The name comes from the challenge to divide into ‘Houses’ of one of four animals which represented the qualities of the knitter. The House Of Monkey contained knitters which were inquisitive and curious for new techniques.
These socks were based around a new way which was devised to enhance and play with the qualities of self striping yarn.
The effect of the stitch pattern is one which gives the finished item and almost ‘tweedy’ effect, with little flecks of colour spanning the colour changes.
The pattern is in written form as the stitch pattern is so simple as not to need a chart. there is, however, a fully illustrated step-by-step guide on how to use the stitch to its best advantage included with the pattern.
An afterthought heel is used in the pattern to best maintain the stripe progression of the yarn, though this can be substituted with a flap & gusset heel is the knitter desires.
