Monet's Garden
This crescent shaped shawl is inspired by Monet’s “Flower Beds at Vétheuil.” I saw this painting on a recent trip to the Museum of Fine Art in Boston and was mesmerized by the juxtaposition of the heavy texture and bright colors with the smoother texture and lighter colors. I just knew I had to knit it. Like the painitng, the shawl has two distinct halves. The first section is knit with fingering weight yarn in stockinette stitch and evokes the soft, serene background of the painting. Then stitches are picked up and the second section is knit with worsted weight yarn and a heavily textured stitch pattern to evoke the heavy, freeform style of the flowers in the foreground.

About the Yarn
A big thank you to Malabrigo for providing the yarn for this project. I used 2 skeins of Rios in the Diana colorway and 1 skein of fluffy Mechita in the Arco Iris colorway. The yarn was a pleasure to work with.
