Monarch Butterfly Shawl
This shawl was created to auction off as part of a fund-raiser for the Bloomington-Normal Community Cancer Center in Normal, Illinois. Each year, the master gardeners of Bloomington-Normal release hundreds of monarch butterflies as part of their annual Monarch Butterfly release program and cancer center fundraiser. Proceeds from the sale of this pattern will be donated to the Community Cancer Center.
This garter stitch, triangular-shaped wrap is worked as a series of triangles in fingering weight yarn. Each triangle is shaped using short rows on one side and increases or decreases on the other side. It is finished with a garter stitch edging. The two sides are joined by a three-needle bind off. I used three shades of orange, black, and scraps of white fingering weight yarn to complete the shawl.
