Moments
Moments is the sixth design of my Ffrench Collection, a series of designs inspired by the music of Alexis Ffrench. Moments is a flowing, delicate piece, with a lightly romantic quality thanks to its waltz-like triple time structure.
SIZING GUIDE
This garment is graded into sizes XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL). Recommended positive ease is 2-8” / 5-20 cm at the chest circumference.
Finished Garment Chest Circumference: 32.25 (37, 41.25, 45.5, 49.75) (53, 57.25, 61, 64)“ / 81 (92.5, 103, 114, 124.5) (132.5, 143, 152.5, 160) cm.
SAMPLE
The wearer is 5’10” / 178 cm with a 37” / 92.5 cm chest circumference. The sample has been worked in size L, giving the wearer 8.5” / 21.5 cm of positive ease at the chest. To allow for the wearer’s height, an extra 1” / 2.5 cm of depth has been worked into the yoke and an extra 1” / 2.5 cm of length has been added to the sleeves.
CONSTRUCTION
This garment is worked top-down, in the round. The yoke combines raglan and circular yoke constructions for shaping. After the neckband, raglan shoulder shaping and short row shaping is incorporated to optimise fit. The majority of the yoke features a stranded colourwork pattern, worked in either two or three colours. Once the yoke is completed, stitches are separated into body and sleeves, which are each worked separately and in the round. After separation, body and sleeves are each worked in stockinette and finished with half-twisted ribbing. Optional colourwork can be added to the sleeves above the cuff.
An option to work the yoke in three colours is included in this pattern.
GAUGE
Using 3.25 mm / US size 3 needles, or needle size required to meet gauge, 26 stitches over 32 rounds in both stockinette stitch and colourwork, wet blocked, creates a 4x4” / 10x10 cm square.
Neckband, waistband and cuff circumferences assume you are working 7 sts per 1” / 2.5 cm.
YARN
The sample has been worked using The Fibre Fox’s Yak Sock base (70% Superwash Merino / 20% Yak / 10% Nylon; 400 m / 438 yds per 100 g) in colourways Deadly Nightshade as the Main Colour and Peony as the Contrast Colour.
