All fall, and into winter, my daughter just kept saying that she wanted a mustard colored hat. We looked and looked and couldn’t find one we liked, but leave it to The Plucky Knitter to have the perfect color mustard yarn! I started thinking of a simple rib, but this seemed to boring. Next I worked a plain brioche (in my case a double Fisherman’s rib) and still wasn’t completely happy with the restful. So I moved on to one of my go to stitches, a single Fisherman’s rib, and was in love. So here is Molly’s Mustard Hat!

The hat is quite versatile and can be worn perched on top of your head as shown or pulled down with the rim folded up for a beanie. And of course, a pom pom on top is always a wonderful added touch!!

While I have written the instructions for Single Fisheman’s Rib. If you prefer to work in Double Fisherman’s Rib, you can CO for one size smaller than desired and work as instructed.

CONSTRUCTION
Knit in the round from the brim up.

YARN

• 1 skein of The Plucky Knitter Primo Worsted (75% super wash merino wool, 20 % cashmere, 5% nylon; 200 yds/185m per 100g skein) or
• 1 skein of Woolfolk TOV 100% Ultimate Merino® wool; 173 yds/158m per 100g skein or
• 1 skein The Uncommon Thread Lush Worsted 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon 212m (231yds) per 100g or
• Approx 200 yds/185m worsted weight yarn

GAUGE
20 sts and 46 rnds = 4”/10cm in Single Fisherman’s Rib using smaller needle (blocked).

NEEDLES and NOTIONS

• Sizes 5 US/3.75mm and 7 US/4.5mm 16” circular needles and size 5 US/3.75mm double-pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge
• St markers in 2 colors
