From the Designer:

I design knitwear mainly for men and school-aged boys because I have long been frustrated by the drab pattern options available for them. Some guys actually like rich color and texture. When I saw Shelter, I loved all of the colors so much that I had a tough time settling on just one, so I decided not to settle on just one. (The original design is done in five colors of Shelter, though it could certainly be knit with just two colors.)

I wanted a design that looked rich and complex but that was relatively simple to knit, so in the spirit of some of Jared Flood’s own designs, I made this a top-down raglan. The yarn’s loft makes the sweater much lighter than a stranded sweater normally would be. The shape is meant to mimic fleece pullovers.

Point of Clarification:

The Raglan Increase Round in the pattern has the following note:

• If only the 1-2 sts closest to the marker are in a MC, then M1 in the MC one st away from the marker. • If the 3 sts closest to the marker are in a MC, then M1 in the MC one stitch away from the marker and knit the stitch closest to the marker in CC. (In subsequent rnds purl this CC st as usual.) • If the st closest to the marker is in CC, work the M1 in the appropriate MC right next to the marker.

Please note that in each case, you are working M1 increases on BOTH sides of the marker, for a total of 8 sts increased in each Raglan Increase Round.

Construction:
This sweater is knit in the round from the top down with raglan shaping and a steeked zipper opening.
