Modern Little Red
The tale of Little Red Riding Hood was first published in the late 17th century. At the time it would have seemed perfectly normal for women and girls to wear hooded capes, for warmth and protection from the elements.
Now in the 21st century, capes are no longer a regular piece of attire.
We have modern equivalents; sweaters and coats have replaced the beautiful but historic capes, and for special occassions, shawlettes are worn as an alternative way to warm a modern girl.
Modern Little Red is a top-down half circle shawlette, with a stocking stitch body, and simple butterfly eyelet lace edging. The pattern has been written in two sizes (child and adult) and for three weights of yarn (4ply/fingering, 8ply/dk, and 10ply/worsted)
Yarn Requirements:
4ply/fingering weight - Red Riding Hood Chic (100g/347m)
