Mock Knit Lamb and Blanket
A few years ago, a friend gave me the sweetest little knit lamb as a gift for my baby girl. I am happy to say I have finally been able to design a mock knit crocheted version of this classic knitting pattern! The lamb is worked in one piece, except for the ears which are worked separately.
Materials & Finished Size - Lamb: Sample lamb measured approx. 5” tall x 9” long (including tail). You can vary the size of the lamb by using a different yarn weight and hook. Sample lamb used…
• DK or light worsted weight acrylic/alpaca blend yarn – approx. 100 yards
• Crochet hook size H (5.0 mm)
• Yarn needle
• Stuffing
Materials & Finished Size- Blanket: The sample blanket used a super bulky yarn and size N/P (10.0 mm) hook. You may make the blanket to any dimensions using yarn and hook of choice. Simply start with a chain of any length & work as per row 1 of lamb. All remaining rows will be as per row 2 of lamb. Sample blanket measured approx. 36” x 30” & used approx. 800 yards.
Skill level: Easy
Both patterns use one basic stitch: co-sc (cast on single crochet) which creates an effect similar to a garter stitch in knitting. Pattern includes detailed instructions and step by step photos for how to create the stitch. It is an easy crochet technique - no knitting skills needed!
Pattern is written in standard American terms.
