Have leftover fingering weight yarn? This squishy, slouchy colourwork hat is just the thing for your scraps. Or, buy new yarn if you want the excuse!

This project has a couple easy colour stitch patterns to keep you interested but not overworked. The bubble stripes are made through slip stitches and come together quite quickly. Use 3 colours or more. The crown comes together in pattern for a pretty finish.

The resulting hat is lightweight, comfortable and as colourful as you like.

Materials:
Yarn: 230 (318, 440) yards/ 210 (290, 402) meters fingering weight yarn, divided approximately evenly between 3 colours; or Bergère de France Coton Fifty: MC 1 (1, 2) skeins, CC1 1 skein & CC2 1 skein. (If using scrpas, each stripe should take 16-24y/ 15-22m of yarn. There are 10 (12, 14) bubble pattern stripes.)

Tools:
US1½ (2.5mm) Circular Needle (16”/40 cm long) (or size to meet gauge), US6 (4mm) Circular Needle (16”/40 cm long) (or 4 sizes larger than smaller needle), US1½ (2.5mm) double pointed needles (or size to meet gauge), US6 (4mm) double pointed needles, stitch marker, tapestry needle.

Gauge:
