Misty Cornwall invokes memories of walking along coastal beaches in the early morning, with the misty fog still hanging over the ocean. Walking along the coast, passing branches of driftwood sitting intently and artistically in the sand, you breathe in the salty air!

The main body of the shawl contains knit rows, purl rows and an eyelet row. The edging is lace, along with a twisted cable, and all wrong side rows are purled. Misty Cornwall is a great knit for both adventurous beginners and experienced lace knitters alike.

This shawl is knit top down with increases on both sides to create its crescent shape. When the body is finished, the stitches for the Driftwood & Waves Lace Edging border are cast on using a knitted CO. Then the border is knit back and forth joining the last stitch of every RS row together with a stitch from the main body.

You will need two skeins/balls of Lana Grossa Setasuri, which comes 212 meters per 25 gram ball. You will also need at least 700-750 yards of fingering weight yarn.

This shawl showcases the marriage of Lana Grossa’s Setasuri with any coordinating color of fingering weight yarn to produce a light, and airy crescent shaped shawl that is easy to wear.

The blue shawlette sample measures 15 1/2 inches down the center back and 51 inches from tip to tip. The large pink sample measures 18 inches down the center back and 56 inches from the widest part of the wings.

Both samples were knit on a US size 6 needle. Gauge is 10 stitches and 14 rows in 2 inches in unblocked stockinette stitch.

This version of my popular Cornwall Coast pattern has been floating around in my mind for a few years now. I’m so excited to finally share this new and exciting Misty Cornwall shawl with you!
