This is the advice that Gandalf gives Bilbo and the dwarves as they head into Mirkwood, a huge, ancient forest of enormous trees and the home of the wood-elves. It is also good life advice, and good knitting advice!

The Mirkwood Hat is knit from chunky wool and has a lace pattern that resembles a huge, old growth forest. It is cast on at the bottom and worked seamlessly to the top. The decreases are worked in the center of each lace repeat, continuing the overall look and feel of the hat.

The circumference of the hat is 20.5”- it will fit most heads!
